SPLASH!

Little Bicho LOVED the splash pad, despite the fact the water shooting from the ground was FREEZING cold!

(A little known fact: Bicho is our little daredevil.  Has been since the day she became mobile.)

Cousin Dy Dy,on the other hand, wasn't too sure what to think about it.

Looks like I found a new thrill for those long summer days!

(P.S. Are you from Arizona? Because maybe you didnt know in the summer its 90 degrees by 8am....)

So I guess I didn't take as many pictures as I had thought of our family birthday celebration for Bicho. Since GiGi Morris has not been feeling well, we decided to bring the party to her! We had lots of fun, lots of food (including the one and only break-the-bank macaroni salad!) and lots of laughs. One thing missing. Lots of pictures. I will repent, I swear.

Que Pasa, Calabaza?

I know, I know - I have been horrible at blogging. But on the flip side, I have been great at stalking reading other people's blogs. I totally got an earfull when we recently took a trip to Utah about my lack of blogging ::cough cough - Ma Burner and Colton!). So without further adieu....

Nadando con amigos

Terbear came home from work Friday evening and annouced, "I am taking Bicho on a date! We are going swimming!" It was a little windy outside, so I was hesitant but who am I to spoil a little daddy-daughter fun?! So I grabbed the camera and followed them down to the pool. Bicho's friend, Kadyn, was there with her daddy too!

Bicho making a splash

I'm not sure Bicho knew what to think and the water (coupled with the wind) made for a chilly first swim. But overall, she had fun!

Dr. appointment - 9 months

(I know I am totally biased when I say this, but that is one cute baby!)

Bicho at 9 months:
23 pounds, 4 ounces (above 95%)
28 inches long (55%)
18 inch head (90%)

Bicho is growing great and becoming so independent. She is crawling all over the place and learning to pull herself up on everything (or at least trying)! She is also developing quite the little personality (read: sassy)! Terrence says that it is from her Italian heritage. I say there's nothing wrong with a woman who knows how to speak her mind and go for what she wants!! (Quote that back to me when Bicho learns how to actually speak her mind - ha!)

The doctor said Bicho is growing wonderfully and is one of the most healthiest babies he has seen. I am a proud momma. I found great nutritional advice in this book I checked out from the library. I don't exactly share the author's views on everything, but it has really given me some ideas on how to make my own baby food and how to mix certain foods for super-duper baby food packed with nutrients and vitamins. (Of course, like I did, check with the Dr on things you aren't quite sure about - just to be on the safe side!!!)

3 more months until her 1st birthday! Time flies when you're having fun!!!

Summer Reading Program

Recently I noticed Bicho loves being read to and flipping through her board books. The other day I heard her babbling from the baby moniter after her nap. When I opened the door to get her, she had her favorite board books open and she was "reading" them outloud! (Bicho is developing quite the personality! We love it!)

Some of my favorite times as a young girl were spending hot, lazy summer days reading books to pass the time. So naturally, I thought it would be fun to sign Bicho up for the summer reading program at the local library. For every six books I read to her, she wins a prize (a beach ball, an animal squirt toy, a beach bucket with shovel & Phoenix Mercury game voucher and a book voucher). I felt a little silly redeeming her points for her first prize since she is so young and was asleep in her stroller. But she lurves her little beach ball, so it was worth it!

If you live in the Phoenix Metro area, sign your child up for the FREE reading program at your local library!!!

Baby Bribery

See Bicho do tummy time.

See Bicho laugh during tummy time.
Good, Bicho, good!

See Bicho build her neck and arm muscles.
What are you looking at Bicho?

???????

Hi my name is Rachel and I bribe my baby with Baby Einstein so she will lay on her tummy for extended periods of time. Oh well - it works!

On another note, everyone says that Bicho looks like her daddy. Personally, I think she looks like me. What says you?
(I know, I know. Improper English...)

Spring Cleaning with Bicho

Feburary has been beautiful the last couple of weeks so Bicho and I have been doing some spring cleaning. Actually, Bicho perfected being cute while I starting my spring cleaning. Here are some cute happy pictures I got of her. I just love the little personality she is developing.

Terrence and I always joke about how Bicho reminds us of Richard Simmons with her headband on because her hair sticks out everywhere! This should be proof about how I was NOT lying when I said I had tons of heartburn when I was pregnant. It must be the Italian in me that produces un monton de pelo in the womb.

In more recent times, Bicho went to the dr. and was diagnosed with RSV - which is a fancy word for a baby cold. And I know exactly where she got it from. (I tend to blame other people's children for my child's illness.) This case involved a very snotty two year old with a horrible cough. I am so cautious and paranoid about her getting sick that of course in the one situation I cannot control, she is exposed to a sickly toddler. Oh well...

I am learning more and more that Bicho is an atypical baby when she is sick. The doctor asked me about her cough and I indicated she hasn't had a cough. The doctor raised an eyebrow and said "That is very atypical for a RSV baby to not have a cough." So I jokingly stated, "Well if she didn't have a fever when she had an infection in her umbilical cord, I guess she wouldn't have a cough with RSV!" The doctor replied, "Oh yes. I've heard about her. That makes sense."  So Bicho is famous at the local pediactric office. Way to make your mark Bicho!

The One-Handed Post

So I am currently typing this post with one hand while Bicho sleeps in the other. I know, its a horrible habit to get her in but it works for us right now. For some odd reason I feel guilty having Bicho sleep in her nursery alone. Maybe its my crazy mom hormones readjusting again. Maybe its because she's just too stinkin cute and I would miss her too much. But I am slowly getting her to take naps in her crib so we'll get there before she is 18...hopefully!

Anyhoo, we had fanily pictures taken by my wonderful sister at the Mesa Arts Center. Bicho did surpisingly well and last for about a half hour before it was nap time. We'll have to do her 3 month old photo shoot this week. Time flies by so fast when you are having fun !!
